The Wedding

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So I thought I'd kick start the new years with a slightly nostalgia post, going back to our wedding day (yaaaaay). I've been in two minds on whether to share this on the blog but after a lot of pondering it is  finally HERE!!!! So grab a cuppa and enjoy, while I take you on a little trip down memory lane and some little tips if you're planning a wedding!




We got married in August (2015) in a beautiful venue called Painshill park in Surrey, the moment we visited the venue we knew that, that was the venue we wanted to get married in. The scenery was picturesque, almost something out of a film, and the venue itself was perfect. We held our ceremony and reception there and it was able to cater for our reasonably large wedding. 



Being of Ghanian decent meant that Kai and I had a traditional Ghanian wedding which happened a week before the white wedding, this allowed us to invite all the friends, church members and other guests that we weren't able to invite to the white wedding to attend. This was just a teaser of what was to occur on the white wedding and it's fair to say on both occasions we truly TURNT UP!!!

So some little tips that were useful to us when it came to planning the wedding. . .

1. What are the 3 most important elements of the wedding for both of you as a couple; for us we really wanted our guests to enjoy themselves - so music and entertainment was a HUGE thing for us, we were blessed to be good friends with a well known UK comedian called A dot comedian this guy literally had everyone in stitches, I remember looking over at Kai's nanny who was in tears of laughter. We also found an amazing DJ called DJ MRI. If you want someone who will actually listen to you as the B&G and to whats going on and also vibes off of the guests he is your guy!

The second thing was food, anyone who knows me will know the PASSION I have for food and dessert, for that alone I knew everyone attending will be expecting nothing but good food and thats what we got! We hired a company called Burrell Catering which is run by two lovely men who are really passionate about food and quality service.

The third aspect was photography, once again we were very fortunate to know the best photographer in Surrey called Malachi Ajose, a very humble and talented young man who is very skilful and artist behind the lens. He did all our wedding photo's and pre-wedding photo's. After shooting with him the quality he produces makes you feel like you can make it as a model in the world lol! And we couldn't be happier with the photo's.

Tip number 2!

Build a concept, colour scheme or theme. Pinterest was my best friend during the planning stages I vaguely knew what I wanted but needed some creative support. Building boards really helped when it came to producing other aspects to our wedding such as our cake and wedding stationary and allowed our vendors to grasp an idea of what we were going for.

Tip 3: Let your wedding replicate your personalities, likes/hobbies.
For kai and I we wanted people to have fun, laugh and enjoy themselves and thats where the comedian came into play, as the host and MC for the night. We also both LOVE Haagen Dazs and seeing as we got engaged in the Haagen Dazs cafe it only made sense to name our tables Haagen Dazs ice-cream flavours. We also had a balloon wall were guests could use our instal-frame for instant photos for our guestbook, nice little twist on your traditional. 

4th and final tip!
ENJOY your day! God willing it will be your only wedding (unless you renew your vows) but enjoy it. All your hard work and effort is to celebrate your union and it's only right to have a BLAST! After all you did plan the biggest party you'd ever have!










 Few months in and it's safe to say I married the best MAN in the world!!!
